Methodology: how we build the rankings

AI Rankings answers one question per page: which AI tool to use for this task, and why. Here we explain the criteria, where the data comes from, how often we review it and the rules that keep the editorial ranking apart from any payment.

Last reviewed: October 22, 2026

How positions are decided

  • Each use case has its own criteria, published on the category page and listed below.
  • Positions are an editorial curation by OQuark based on those criteria and on public information about each tool. We don't run our own performance tests yet.
  • Every tool page explains, in Portuguese and English, why the tool holds its position.
  • We list 4 to 10 options per use case: the goal is a short answer, not a catalog.
  • The order comes only from the position field in the editorial data. The editorial data has no payment, sponsorship or affiliate field.

Sources

  • Each tool's official website: description, features and whether there's a free tier.
  • The official pricing page: we only show a starting price when we're sure of it, and even then we ask you to check the official site.
  • Launches: the official announcement with a date. When the official page has no date or blocks access, we use news reports and the "Source" link points to them.
  • No paid source goes into a position: sponsored reviews and ads don't count.

Review frequency

The date of the last editorial review is shown at the top of this page, on each category and in the footer. We review positions when a relevant launch comes out, when a price or feature changes or when someone reports a mistake, and we update the date every time the ranking is reviewed.

On top of that, there's a mechanical weekly check run by a script with no AI: it only makes HTTP requests and compares the results with the previous week. Its output is a report for human review.

  • Checks whether the link of every tool and every launch still works, and whether it moved to another address or domain.
  • Detects changes on each tool's pricing page by comparing the text and the prices with the previous week.
  • Never changes a position, the order or the criteria of the ranking. At most, it marks as broken a link that failed two checks in a row.
  • The report is read by a person, who decides whether any tool page or position needs an editorial review.

Editorial rules (R1 to R8)

The site will be funded by ads, affiliate links and templates. No paid format is on sale today. These rules make sure none of that touches the ranking.

  1. R1The editorial ranking is not for sale

No payment buys, raises, keeps or protects a position. Positions come only from the published criteria, and payment data is kept apart from editorial data.

  2. R2When there is paid placement, it is labeled "Sponsored"

When they exist, paid cards, the sponsors bar and paid newsletter blocks will show "Sponsored" at first sight, with no scrolling or clicking needed.

  3. R3Featured spots stay outside the numbered list

A sponsored card appears above or beside the ranking, with a different background and no position number. It's never inserted between numbered positions.

  4. R4Paying doesn't protect from demotion

If a sponsor gets worse on price, quality or safety, its editorial position drops as usual.

  5. R5Affiliate links don't change positions

The ranking is set before we check whether an affiliate program exists. The #1 tool without an affiliate program stays #1, and every affiliate link is flagged next to the button.

  6. R6Free submission always exists

Any tool can ask to join the catalog for free through the contact e-mail. When paid formats exist, they will only buy faster review and labeled visibility.

  7. R7Public transparency

These rules are published on the site; when there are paid formats and active affiliate programs, they will be published too.

  8. R8Refusal

We don't accept sponsorship from tools with signs of fraud, abusive data collection or that generate illegal content. The final decision is always made by a person.
