# Semrush vs Ahrefs

> Semrush and Ahrefs compete in Marketing and SEO. We show the editorial position of each and the published criteria — AI Rankings never crowns a paid “winner” and never reorders for sponsorship.

_Updated October 22, 2026 · AI Rankings (OQuark)_

## Position in the Marketing and SEO ranking

- Semrush: #1
- Ahrefs: #2

Position comes only from the ranking criteria (rule R1). When there's an affiliate link, it's labeled and never changes the order (R5).

## Side by side

| Criterion | Semrush | Ahrefs |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Ranking position | #1 | #2 |
| Free plan | Yes | Yes |
| Starting price | US$ 139/mo | US$ 29/mo |
| Speaks Portuguese? | Yes | Yes |

## What we verified

### Semrush — Semrush

Why it ranks here: Leads thanks to its own search database (29 billion keywords, 142 geographic databases), a Portuguese site, a free plan and published monthly prices; the entry paid plan, at US$139/month, is the most expensive in the group.

### Ahrefs — Ahrefs

Why it ranks here: It has its own search database (41.9 billion keywords, 217+ countries and locations), a Portuguese site, a free plan for verified sites and published monthly prices from US$29; it ranks behind Semrush because the free plan only analyzes your own sites and the AI content kit hasn't launched yet.

## How we compare

Both are judged by the same Marketing and SEO criteria:

Real gains in SEO and content marketing (keyword research, page optimization, ad and campaign creation), proprietary search data, support for Portuguese and the Brazilian market, a free plan or trial and pricing transparency.
